American Furniture Manholes

A new American Furniture and Mattresswarehouse was built in Webster, Texas, requiringthe installation of sanitary and stormwater manholes and a catch basin.

The design team was looking for corrosionprotection for the manholes and chose XypexBio-San C500 over the alternate antimicrobialadmixture. Xypex Bio-San C500 waschosen because it provides the precast sewageelements with protection against microbialinduced corrosion and aggressive chemicals,as well as waterproofing and crackhealing properties. The precast manufacturerreported that there were no operational orfabrication issues associated with includingXypex Bio-San C500 in the wet cast mix.

The distinct colour of Bio-San C500 treated concrete facilitates the identification at the plant or on site as shown in the photos for this project.
