Bonneville Fish Hatchery
Attracting nearly 1 million visitors each year, the Bonneville Fish Hatchery is apopular tourist attraction off the Columbia River. Originally built in 1909, thehatchery added a sturgeon viewing center in 1998.
Xypex products were used to waterproof and protect the interior of the sturgeonreservoir. 400 lbs of Xypex Concentrate was applied to the interior walls to. Afteran initial water test, an additional 60 lbs of Xypex Patch’n Plug was used to repairthe tie holes and cracks in the concrete. The habitat was then filled with featuresthat simulate the natural habitat of the Columbia River White Sturgeon.
Xypex is NSF-61 approved, and would be a permanent, non-toxic waterproofingsystem. The use of Xypex Concentrate also needed no protection during placementof natural features or for maintenance of the pools and exhibit. After 15 years, the concrete is still in good condition with no apparent issues.
