Jerry’s Home Improvement

Jerry’s Home Improvement’s Springfield store is in the “drinking water protectionzone” as defined by the Springfield Utility Board. This required that storage ofchemical and hazardous materials be confined to areas where an impervious andchemical resistant slab was installed. That would restrict the ability for the store tohave flexible product placement within the store. The owner in consultation withthe architect and the city utility board determined that it would best to replace theentire slab with a new one using Xypex Admix and thus bypass the need for annualinspections to ensure compliance with code restrictions. Springfield’s water sourceis from wells and the city engineer was concerned about chemical contaminationin case of a chemical (solvents, paints, insecticides) spill and fire causing thesprinkler system to be activated. The store’s existing slab was removed andreplaced with a chemically resistant slab that would also prevent seepage andcontamination of the water table.
A total of 5,640 lbs of Xypex Admix C-500 soluble bags wereused; 470 cu. yds. dosed at 2%.
